summer update #1

I'm just going to title our posts like this for the summer :o) Keep it simple and then I can put up a variety of pictures. here's our week so far in IA with the Thompsons.

 We had a ton of fun at one of Des MOines' splash pads on Tues.

Max and Jack go to a Party...

We had a really fun week last week. On Tues. we headed over to a friends for playtime and lunch.

 Then on Friday a friend of Jack had a 4th birthday party. The girls were a bit more into the party than my boys, but everyone had a really fun morning.

 And this is how Max felt at the end of the party... :o)

 Today we headed out to Stanley for a little shopping...Max got some new shades...

 And finally...tonight we met up with several other families. To say good-bye to some who are leaving Hong Kong for good... and to say hello to our friends the Ablines who are back to visit after leaving three years ago.

 Max makes this VERY intense face.. usually while trying to grab large chunks of my facial skin or neck...We tried to get a good shot of this face the other night...it was hard to get it replicated on film... but you get the idea!

moving update

 The final days are here! This past weekend was spent packing, taking apart furniture and trying to get a few projects done at the new place. Our place is pretty packed up... we took down all the packed boxes over the weekend and have friends coming on Wed. to take down the furniture. The main room (living/dining areas) are painted, but thats all for now. Please pray the painters can finish up a couple of bedrooms in the next few days so we have more room to put our stuff. They should be finished up bu the end of the week so this weekend we can really unpack. we will probably be living there for a couple of days while they finish up.

Hong Kong Krazies: Wet Market Mania

 In Hong Kong we have grocery stores. They are pretty normal looking (smaller isles, selection, and more asian goods), but still "normal" food shopping. Then there are the markets...almost every area of town has their own wet market... I'm not sure about the name, but I think it comes from the fact that the whole place gets hosed down every night. They are inside markets where you can by everything (usually including the kitchen sink!) :o) The main products are food... fruit, veg, and meat. But there are other random shops selling other random goods... shoes towels, a key maker, flowers, etc.

I have yet to purchase meat from a stall like one of these... but it makes for some good pictures. I do buy lots of fruit and veggies from the markets becuase the selection and price are quite good compared to the store.
