Hong Kong Krazies #9: Pizza Hut

You might be thinking... why is Pizza Hut a Hong Kong Krazie? Well... Pizza Hut is SUPER popular here, and we think its because they have totally catered to the local cuisine! Other American restaurants and come (and gone) and others are mildly popular, but people here LOVE the hut. Personally, the pizzas they advertise make my stomach turn, and I am not enticed, but others must be! Yes, you can still get a normal pepperoni pizza, but its not whats advertised!  I took a few photos of a advertisement I saw awhile go, and I also got some images from their web site... Enjoy! Which are you ordering tonight?
The Salmon Cream Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizza? (doesn't the salmon ooze look SO tempting? :o)

The pop Pop Pizza? (not sure whats on this one, but it looks meaty and seafoody!)
The Land and Ocean Special ( Beef, crab sticks, corn, mushrooms & pepperoni) Oh and Thousand Island salad dressing instead of tomato sauce!!! This is another local favorite. We have accidentally been given it a few times, not my favorite!

Or the Thousand Island Seafood ( Seafood, crab sticks, pineapple, red peppers & green peppers)

While I'm doing a post on this subject I want to share one more local delicacy to tempt your tastebuds!
I was given this pack of instant oatmeal as a promo at the grocery store. I was excited, because we do eat oatmeal. When I go home and saw the flavor though I knew this would not be eaten in out house! Can you make out what the amazing flavor is?
Happy eating!!! (oh and Happy weekend!)

Busy Bees

My ToDo list is LONG today....but instead of checking things off, I'm blogging :o) Hope you enjoy my lack of productivity!
Yesterday we went the boys first halloween/dress up party! It was SO much fun and they both kept their costumes on the whole time (made me so happy inside!) Here are a few shots from the party.
I tried to get a good one of the two together... no luck!

Max got a little caught up in all the pretty princess dresses :o)

Decorating treat bags which turned into trying to keep Max from eating the crayons!
 A pinata!

 Snack time!

 Max had had enough!

The party people...at least the ones that would sit for the picture... about 5 are missing.

Such a fun afternoon!

Hong Kong Krazies #8

Public Transportation:
I LOVE not having a car here. In some ways it would be easier, but in so many others it would had hassle and cost to our lives. The public transport system here is AMAZING, convenient, affordable, and efficient. Our main forms are bus and train, although there are taxis, trams and ferrys available.
Here are a couple of shots of my boys riding on the mini bus to the train station.

The bus on the left is called a mini-bus and the one on the right we just call a bus :o)
We take the train most places... Here are some pictures of in the inside of our local station and up on the platform with a train coming in.

During the morning and evening rush hours both the platform and stations are just crazy packed with people!
Here's the map of the train system here. Because Hong Kong is relatively small, you can get most places within an hour by taking the train.
Taxis are very affordable, but we still don't take them very often as everything else is still cheaper.
I hope you enjoyed this little peak in to how we get around!

Grandparents visit part 2

Well... I hope mom and dad are on their plane flying home at this very moment. I say "I hope" because we had a rough morning :o) It was pouring out so our original plan of walking to the bus stop to say good bye was out the window. However, after searching for nearly a half hour for a taxi (me running all over the place in the rain)... I decided this really still was the only and best option before it got too late. So we said a quick good-bye outside our building and they headed off to the bus stop. I am hoping they found it, got on the right bus, and arrived at the airport in plenty of time :o)
we had a wonderful visit and here are a few more pictures of the last week.
Mom and I made it into China both Saturdays for wonderful massages.
I'm outside the lovely spa we went to here.

I had a groupon for an outdoor photo shoot with a professional photographer, so Sunday afternoon we all headed down to the harbor. After a 2 1/2 hour shoot here are a few pictures we took our self.
At a moms group play day...
Our final dinner out at our favorite dumpling shop. I love this one of Bryan and Jack!

Max had his first bloody lip while they were here.

So fun, thanks for all the great times, grandma and bumpa!

Grandparents visit Part 1

We have been having SO much fun with Grandma and Grandpa! They arrived right before a big Typhoon so our first day was pretty exciting!
We've enjoyed lots of local food.
 Some market shopping
 Lots of story times

Grandma is spoiling Jack with a massage before bed each night :o)

We went on a bus tour. Jack had seen these buses and had been bugging us to go on the "outside" bus :o) it was a great way to see the city sights.

More pictures to come!
