Jack turns three!

It was so fun this year to celebrate his Birthday! Jack actually knew what was going on when we said his birthday was coming, and there was a lot of excitement and anticipation. He was SO excited when he woke up Sunday morning. You can see the super happy smile on this first picture. We had a nice breakfast together before Bryan headed to his conference and the kids and I to church.
He got to open a few gifts in the morning...
In the afternoon we had his friend Malcolm (and family) over to swim and have pizza and fruit pizza. It was a really fun evening.

Max was in love with his party hat!
He got to open a few more gifts...
Nice Birthday smile, terrible birthday flash!
My healthy(ish) version of fruit pizza...
He keeps asking if he is still three...so cute!

the boys...

Boys snack time in the kitchen

The blue string that kept them both happy for a rainy afternoon.

Jack showing off his "tats", " like Uncle Will", he says... oh boy!
I was doing a photo shoot with one of my crafts and Jack wanted a photo shoot with his car bag :o)

Hong Kong Krazies #2

Don't walk on the Grass!
There is very little grass here (the soil is like clay and it just dies). Where there is grass, there are clear signs telling you to stay off. BUT... despite this fact Hong Kong is a VERY green city. We love all the tress, bushes and plants that we see every day. This morning when we walked over to the store to get milk we snapped a few photos. These pictures were take right out in front of our estate, and I also threw in a picture of our apartment tower (there are three total in our estate).
As Jack says, "we live high in the sky!" :o) (we are on floor 12 of 28)

Super Saturday

Yesterday we had SUCH a fun day. It was filled with a mix of family, friends, exercise, food, and relaxing.
Family bike ride to get breakfast in the morning.
We rode about a mile and a half to Burger King for Breakfast.
Jack did incredible on the 3 mile round trip ride.

Max fell asleep on the way home. Looks comfy, huh? :o)

We went to a friends in the late afternoon for swimming by their home and a BBQ.

We were home late...sweaty, tired and sandy, but it was a FUN day. How was your Saturday?

Hong Kong Krazies.... #1

I've decided I should be sharing more about what makes life here unique. We certainly see/hear/smell/taste things all the time that are different than our life would be in North America. So... I'm starting a new series, with a goal to post once a week. I've been taking photos of "interesting" things for a few months now, so I'm ready to go!
First up...one of my absolute favorite things here....
FABULOUS BAKERIES
One of our favorite ones... A-1
Jack loves the chicken sausage ones

My personal favorite is the Japanese Sweet Potato bun.... YUM!

and just because... a video of Jack swimming

ummm...Opps!

So it was Happy Hair Cut Saturday until....
I forgot to put the longer guard on the clippers before taking a swipe on Max's head :o) This is what Bryan woke up to from his nap... opps! I meant it to all be the longer length, that was WITH the guard!

SO... now Max looks like dad... Pretty bald! :o) His head is scratchy to sleep with at night.. Bryan says that is my punishment for not checking the clippers :o) Good thing hair grows back... and REALLY good thing he is a boy :o) Can you imagine if I had done this to a daughter? Although what would clippers be doing by a girls head?

Hand-Foot-Mouth (and butt)

So.... I'm not sure where they picked it up... Probably somewhere along our travels home, but I'm pretty sure the boys came down with a case of Hand-Foot-Mouth disease last week. I snapped these pictures about two days in, so they were already getting better, but it was a very mild case. If I hadn't seen this picture online I might not have thought they had it at all. However when Jack came down with the same symptoms a few days later I was really convinced. Now it seems we may have also spread the love to a few friends. :o) Uh-oh! Max had the worst rash on his butt, which in my reading seemed to fit the symptoms... I guess the name hand-foot-mouth-butt isn't very catchy though :o) Jacks case is even more mild than Max, so we were blessed. Thankfully just a few more days of staying away from others and we can rejoin our social life!
