Hong Kong Krazies: Trash Cans

One thing we LOVE about this city is how clean it is. I've never seen such a large city stay so clean. There is a whole army of people (mostly older women and men) who sweep all the sidewalks and clean up the leaves and trash daily. (everywhere!!!) Its impressive...Another thing... there are trash cans everywhere!!! Literally... you can be hiking, miles from anywhere and see a real trash can... I always wonder who comes and gets that trash? It really does keep the city clean though, there is no sense is throwing trash on the ground when you can walk ten steps and put it in a can. Here is a picture I snapped the other day in front of our place....
I added the arrows, but you can see that from where I was standing I could see FOUR trash cans... yikes!

 So.. this big duck sits in the Hong Kong Harbor right now... Its a HUGE attraction {not sure why} but we took the boys to see it this afternoon. You can read more about the duck HERE.
 There are also many small ducks as part of the display.

A {wet} camping weekend...

We have been telling the boys for months that when Chen-Chen got her casts off we could go camping... Fortunately the weather here has been terrible, so we weren't tempted. But, she got her casts off last week, and we had a three day weekend this week... so it was time to hit the beach. We woke up to pouring rain Friday, but by the time we finished watching the IDOL finale it had stopped and we headed out. That afternoon turned out to be really nice, cloudy and not too hot. Perfect for just sitting around the campfire hanging out with friends.
 Max did the hike and carried his own "pack" for the first time.
 Our little beach bum in a makeshift baby chair.
 So much help setting up the tent. :o)
 The observers...
 What it takes to go camping with a bottle fed baby :o)
 Afternoon nap in the tent all braced up...She was a super sleeper. Three hour nap here in the afternoon and pretty much through the night... we can't complain.
 We stayed overnight with 5 adults and 7 kids, and another family with two kids joined us for the day. The boys had a blast! Nothing better than sand, water and friends... OH, and of those 9 kids, Chen Chen was the only girl! Holy boys!

 Minor meltdown over the way the bread broke when folded over the hot dog!

 S'Mores!
 Boys had breakfast in the tent when it started to pour this morning.
 Rainy breakfast...
 SO.MUCH.FUN!
 My hash man... {love him!!!}
Well, I'm not sure the rest of the world enjoyed buddhas birthday as mush as we did, but its always nice to have a Friday off! Enjoy your weekend....
We are saying good-bye to Chen Chen in the morning {sniff}

Happy Mothers Day!!!

These past three months I've been a mother of three! It has been a wonderful, challenging and amazing experience. We have loved having a little girl in our family, and while this one is leaving soon, my mothers heart longs and prays for the little girl that will join our family forever...
Happy Mothers Day to all of you!!!
On Friday Jacks class had a Mothers Day Tea. We were treated like royalty with crowns and a gift that the kids had made.
 The kids sang us a few songs...
 Then we played a game where we had to guess ourselves from a wall of the kids drawings... it was SOOO funny watching... Surprisingly you would have thought that The two blond/brown haired moms in the class would be easy... but... there were a lot of drawings with lighter hair..
 The boys did a little concert on Saturday..

 This morning the kids gave me the gift of a good photo! :o)
 and Happy Mothers Day to me :o) A foot rub tonight... alone! AHHHHH!!

field trip...

Jacks class had a field trip to a farm/garden last week. We all (me and three kids) went along for the ride... It was a chilly morning, but no rain and the kids had fun!

We also gave Chen Chen her first rice cereal {which she loves} last week
